History: Founded in Rome by Mary Ward of England, 1638, the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, or the Loretto Sisters, self-identify with the post-nominal initials, β€œI.B.V.M.” They made their first foundation in Canada, 1847, and in the United States, 1880. Its Toronto Province administered Holy Name of Mary School (Ojibwa), Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, 1896-1971 (closed).
